Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The present study aims to fill the research gap regarding the marital and reproductive attitudes and behaviours of students appertaining to two similar but differentiated socio-cultural areas: the Western border of Romania (Bihor county) and the Eastern border of Hungary (Hajdu-Bihar area). A secondary analysis was conducted on the data collected within HERD research among 1.323 Romanian and 1.295 Hungarian higher education students. Comparing the samples, the results showed differences and resemblances: the family background determines students’ marital and reproductive behavior for both samples but the decision to establish an own family is biased by groups, being affected by social, cultural, educational and financial factors. The fact that, opposite to the Hungarian sample, the financial stability is considered by the Romanian students to be the most important element when deciding to have a family, could be interpreted as an alarm sign for the authorities; they must create an optimum context for the proliferation of new families. Although Romanian students manifest attitudes that aim to transcend traditional norms, they are still being exposed to the influence of these values, while Hungarian students are more affected by modern social norms.

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The unprecedented development of the Internet in contemporary world and its increasing influence in people’s life produce, inevitably, an impact on religious practice. This paper is interested to analyze the manners Internet and web-based religious communication affects New Religious Movements’ public discourses and the manner these groups’ construct their own religious messages to atract more adherents, via Internet. We intend to demonstrate that communication through Internet positively influences the way NRMs construct their own religious messages to atract new adherents, that NRMs’ public discourse is influenced by their self-positioning as cultural and religious alternatives, and also by extensive Internet usage in disseminating and constructing their religious discourse. As Internet impacts most religious groups’ communication we want to underline those elements specific to NRMs’ communication. To depict the specificity of Internet’s impact on NRMs’ discourse we’ll first underline some general transformations within religious life and practice induced by longterm social changes, like modernization or globalization. These generate deep cultural transformation on people’s mentality, and religion become, in Western societies, rather a cultural product (Beckford), a projects of the autonomous self (Hoover) dominated by a turn to subjective-life (Woodhead). Mediatization of religion (Hjarvard) generates interesting phenomenons, like “banal religion” (Hjarvard), “hyper-religion” (Possamai) or “cultural religion” (Albanese), while the Internet creates many posibilities of action on religious field for any individual. From challenging traditional religious authorities to creation of a new churchless religion, the Internet allows, especially to New Religious Movements, to attract more followers using the Internet. After these demarcations we’ll underline the specific effects of Internet on NRMs’ discourse. As these groups are much interested in attracting new followers and being more persuasive to outsiders, their public discourses become less traditional, less theological and more flexible, more marketized and follower-oriented.

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): : The process of population ageing is a complex and difficult issue. The intensity of the effort to recognize these processes is reflected in the number of the methods and techniques used in this effort. The analysis of the population age structure and its ageing with the help of the sophisticated knowledge instruments is the crucial work of our contribution. The object of our study is the population of the Czech Republic (CR) and Slovak Republic (SR), and the changes in their age structure in the years 1920-2011. We used some indicators of traditional ageing measures (hexagonal diagram, ageing index, age index, Billeter index) and some new measure tools based on the selected generation groups also. The comparison shows a high degree of similarity. In the development of the ageing processes are also certain differences between the CR and SR. The ageing of the population in the CR started earlier than in Slovakia, and the process is more intense. A number of social problems are associated with the processes of population ageing. The first group are the issues of economic nature (income–pensions of non-working persons, the reduction of productive age category, the opportunities for utilization of the elderly population). The second group involves the issues of social and health services (geriatric facilities, physicians and health care professionals, psychological facilities, special housing requirements, retirement houses of various types, etc.).

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The present article provides an insight into Romanians’ environmental worldview, on the basis of a shortened, six item version of the New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) Scale. The data are delivered from the 2008 wave of the European Value Survey (EVS), which included, for the first time, the NEP module. The results of the analysis suggest that the overall endorsement of the NEP in Romania is one of the lowest among the EVS participant countries and Romania provides also one of the highest percents of ‘don’t know’ answers regarding the NEP items. The six items do not consistently hold together and the factor analysis yields a two factor solution, with items saturating two components: one corresponding to a ‘humans over nature’ facet and another corresponding to the ‘fragility of earth’s balance and its carrying capacity’. The comparative inter-country analysis suggests that in the case of all the other European countries, the NEP items are split into the same categories as in Romania. Thus, the major difference between Romania and the other European states consists not so much in the different structure of the NEP, but rather in the much lower endorsement of the NEP view, particularly its facets of anti-anthropocentrismand anti-human-exemptionalism such as they are currently enacted in Romania. Among the positional factors, residence in large urban settings is the most important predictor of the unequivocal endorsement of the NEP, while education is the most important factor which significantly increases the likelihood to formulate an opinion in relation with NEP items.

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): We often discuss divorce and migration because of the social, economical or psychological effects. When children are involved the issue becomes even more sensitive. The recent theories and research underline the importance of intrafamilial processes, more than that of divorce or migration per se. The present paper focuses on the statistical connections between the family type (intact or separated because of migration or divorce), the quality of parent-child relationship as independent variables and the possible effects on children: self esteem, smoking, alcohol consumption and school adjustment as dependent variables. The responders are students in the schools of Cluj County, Romania. The results showed rather small or no effect of family type, but significant effects of the parent-child relationship on child outcome. The relationship with the mother holds the most important statistical effect on children’s self esteem, alcohol consumption and school adjustment; and I also find to be interesting that almost 25% of the responders ignored at least one of the questions regarding the relationship with their father. Parents can learn from the results the importance of a good relationship with their children, and it is also important for the policy makers to consider that the absence of a parent, regardless of the cause, holds a negative effect on children’s school grades.
