Dogenii din Teleorman în țară și în străinătate. Un studiu asupra migrației circulatorii în Spania
Dogens from Teleorman ind Romania and Abroad. A Study on Circular Migration to Spain
Monica Șerban, Vlad Grigoraș
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): International circulatory migration is an increasing phenomenon in today Romania. In May 2001, within a representative public opinion poll at national level, 18% of interviewed persons declared the intention to temporary go abroad to work. The extension of migrants' recruitment aria from the western part of the country to eastern one and the growth of rural aria as source for international migration are two contemporary phenomenon tendencies at national level.
This paper proposes an exploratory study about characteristics of circulatory migration for work to Spain in one rural community from Teleorman County. The qualitative data were collected in July 2001 within a Bucharest University research regarding life strategies.
Who are migrants, which are the reasons to migrate, how is migration event accomplished, which is the influence of migration experience of the community are questions to be answered in this paper. Analyses underline the importance of social capital as main factor for external clandestine migration. The development of migrant networks at destination area and the institutionalized flow of migrants seem to be essential elements in reducing migration selectivity, implicitly in extending it and growing its independence. Rich migration experience at community level tends to amplify exigency in evaluating international clandestine migration as alternative development life strategy at individual/family level.

Trafic de femei - o perspectivă sociologică
Trafficking in Women. A Sociological Perspective
Sebastian Lăzăroiu
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): It is often a common view that trafficking in women is a phenomenon that law enforcement should deal with. The perception of the deviant nature of this phenomenon cannot ignore the need of a scientific, general approach from a sociological and economical perspective. Our study is based on few assumptions: First it should be noted that victims of traffic are usually social innovators, who try to find solutions to an unstable, critical environment. Second, trafficking in women is part of a broader phenomenon of circulatory migration (which we called failed circulatory migration). As individuals are facing challenges from an unstable environment innovative strategies will not be always successful. It depends on some social circumstances, but mostly on some individual characteristics as gender and human capital, which are shaped by institutions and cultural practices. Taking risk, though incorporated in young spirits, might generate failure when people lack abilities to manage new social situations or they are constrained by a gender discriminative setting. The study aims at evidencing some relations between vulnerability to trafficking in women and individual/environment characteristics.
