Modele de participare civică a tinerilor din România
Models of Civic Participation of the Youth Population in Romania
Marius Strâmbeanu
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): Can we speak of a model (pattern) of the young Romanians participation in public life or better, we should refer to a variety of models (alternatives) of civic participation and implication? The article tries to shape an explicit model of the civic participation of the young population of Romania, aged between 15 and 29, resorting to a number of dimensions - potentialities, expectations, resources, values -, drawn by the considered relation between the social-demographic dimensions. The social environment of the civic participation was delimited according to practical issues (access to a limited set of indicators of the young populations participation) but also according to the results of the exterior and the interior causal analyses of this study, referring to the crossing of some dimensions which are contingent to the types of capital, the resources, the expectations, the valuables and status options. We think that an exercise of instrumentation and validation of a theoretical model, resembling the one we try to crystallize here, represents a useful tool (and) because it analyzes a set of variables that can be of maximum utility regarding the easy (facile) and pertinent identification of the elements that allow the constitution of a social relief of the field (environment zone) interaction, relevant for the dimension which is put forward by the civic activity.

Diferențe interregionale pe dimensiunea parohialism/naționalism
Cross-Region Differences on Inward-Oriented Nationalism Dimension among Romanian Students
Dana Bălaș
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): This study aims at investigating the parochialism dimension, by four significant socio-statistical indicators: the independence/interdependence level, the internal/external locus of control, complex identification/local identification (eight identities scale: inhabitant of the world, European, South-Eastern European, Central European, ethnic identification, regional identification, neighbourhood identification) and naming a representative local personality. The subjects involved in this research are students from the seven University centres, belonging to the seven historical regions of Romania: Ardeal (Sibiu), Transilvania (Cluj-Napoca), Banat (Timișoara), Moldova (Iași), Oltenia (Craiova), Muntenia (București) and Dobrogea (Constanța). The established hypotheses of the research are: 1) there are statistically significant interregional differences approaching the independence/interdependence, the internal/external locus of control, the national identification; 2) the internal locus of control correlates with independence and the external locus of control correlates with interdependence; 3) complex identification correlates with independence and the internal locus of control, the delimiting nationalism and the local identification correlate with interdependence and the external locus of control, the delimiting parochialism. Combining the analyses contextually to establish that the independence/interdependence dimension, the internal/external locus of control dimension and the national identification are indicators of nationalism/parochialism, we can conclude that there are statistically significant interregional differences on the Romanian students' national sample.

Norbert Petrovici
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): In this paper we try to find out how the capital accumulation is embedded in the social and political organization of the emerging post-socialist markets. The accumulation is not only dependent on the entrepreneurial skills, but also on the market organization. In this study we want to grasp the way in which the real estate market of Cluj-Napoca is organized, and we intend to find out how profitability is linked to the institutional arrangements.

Grădinăritul într-un sat din sudul Moldovei - Drăgușeni (jud. Galați)
Gardening in a Village in South Moldavia - Drăgușeni (Galați County)
Sorin Geacu, Dușan Stoian
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): Following the notable tradition of the prestigious inter-war Sociologie Româneascã journal, which used to publish field investigations concerning the Romanian village, the present paper discusses some detailed field surveys relating to certain essential aspects of the cultivation of vegetables by the gardners (originating from Tîrnovo Bulgaria) in Drăgușeni (Covurlui Hills) with focus on the gardners place of origin, the vegetables cultivated, the gardening works over the year and the marketing places. This is the second case study for the Moldavian zone on this topic, the first one authored by Ion Gugiuman, targeted the Huși area and was published in the Sociologie Românească journal in 1939.
