Relații de putere în cadrul elitei politice românești la sfârșitul anilor ''80 și începutul anilor ''90
Power relations within the Romanian political elite in late 80s and early 90s
Norbert Petrovici
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): In Central and Eastern Europe the reproduction of the former socialist actors in all social subsystems (economical, political and cultural) was the rule, not the exception. Nevertheless, the countries in this region have had very diverse performances. We believe that these performances are not necessarily linked to the proportion of the former communists in the system, but to the power relations established between different factions of the former communist, on the one hand, and the power relations between this former communist and the new political elite. These power relations meant that institutions were built differently in these countries, which has lead to different economic performances. Using a database which codifies autobiographies of the individual actors composing the political elite and using historical contextualized output of ultivariate analysis, we tried to identify the power relations between political actors, in the first half of the 90s.

Percepția subiectivă a democrației și democratizării societății românești (1990-2005)
Subjective perceptions of democracy and democratization in the Romanian society (1990-2005)
Claudia Buruiană
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The third democratization wave lead to the restating of the basic question regarding the adequacy (with the meaning stated by Almond and Verba) of the (universal) standards of the democracy and the cultural pattern of a certain society. This problem is a founder one for a sociology of democracy and of the democratic regims. This field was developedin parallel with the understanding and the development of the idea that the democracy is a significant sociocultural construction. The present study proposes an analysis, based on the sampling data, of the meanings offered by the Romanian society to the democracy and of democratization process, at the end of the 16 years of democratic transition.

Mihai Manoilescu - analist al burgheziei române interbelice
Mihail Manoilescu - analyst of the interwar Romanian middle-class
Angela Banciu
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză):
This paper, removing the ideological charge from which the defects and limits of Manoilescu's thinking originates, reveals the great value and contemporanity of his ideas regarding the analyze of the Romanian bourgeoisie in relation with the European one. Manoilescu's fundamental contribution to elaborate the theory of the bourgeoisie, reflected by the case study of the Romanian bourgeoisie, is accentuated starting with ten large analytical components: the idea of classes, the sociological category of bourgeoisie, the idea of structuring the bourgeoisie in the two distinct levels, the formulation of the social regularity, the accenting of the role and value of the modern institutions, the psychology and life style of the Romanian bourgeoisie, the precision and force of the embodiment of the psychological profiles of the professional bourgeoisie categories. I believe that Manoilescus analysis, by language force and elegance, remains unique in the specialty literature.

Victoria Babei
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): From 1990, the youth from Republic of Moldova study in the universities of Romania. Their success depends on the process of integration, accommodation in a new environment and communication with Romanian students. These processes are connected with the perception and the image that the persons have with whom they take social contact. That is why I consider that the pictures inside Romanian students minds the stereotypes about the students over the Prut River are framing in function of interaction and personal communication's process. I have proposed to study Romanian students stereotypes about the Moldavian students who study in Romania. The researchs idea has come from my experience in Romanian university environment over the last four years. In this period, I noticed that some friends and classmates, who, at that time, have not acquainted youth from Republic of Moldova, had wrong and schematic information about them. In addition, they had a less favourable image comparing with those who had social contacts with youth from Republic of Moldova. The purpose of this study consists in stating the role of interpersonal communication in decreasing the Moldavian student's stereotype, who study in Romania.
