Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The contemporary society amplifies the tum up of family conflicts, because we find ourselves in a period when masculine and feminine gender roles are being redefining, a process accelerated by feminism. Not only the redefinition of gender roles, but also its misunderstanding lead to some extremely diverse gender-role behaviours, which encourage arguing and dissatisfaction within the couple. My study is focused on some of the consequences generated by the on-going reconversion of gender roles and on some of the problems of contemporary couples.

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The changes produced in the last ten years in Romania have been a great impact on the rural communities. Psychological characteristics of people are influenced by the cultural and social facts. This is why I considered very important to study what are the main changes in psychological features of the people who are living in a little village (Belint) from Timis county. The main conclusions of this research are related to the wishes and hopes of the people from this village: their own farm, better sanitary care for animals, and so on.

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The paper laid the foundation of measuring the degree of development or poverty for all the villages of Romania. This is part of a larger project of building a social atlas of Romania; coming from a well structured Romanian social science tradition. The theoretical background of the measurement is the theory of capitals. Each village is considered as a combination of human, material, vital, symbolic and regional capital. Community development is considered as a latent continuous variable having maximum development and poverty as two poles. This latent variable is measured by a factor score index of 17 indicators. The index allows for measurement of village poverty in national and in regional hierarchies. Human capital is the most important component of village development or poverty. An explanation of village poverty is given in terms of poverty cycles and regression models. The poorest villages are peripheral villages within communes, located in plain areas, far from large cities and modernized roads, in low developed judets. Romania's villages are classified from a level and from a structural point of view.
