Valer Veres
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): This study analyze the transformation of the economic structure and the labor force from Romania in transition period in Central and East European context, starting with the statement that the transition from the planned state-economy to the free market economy caused main structural changes in labor force, the number of the employees in the industry decreased and increased those who worked in the services and in primarily sector (agriculture), as a Romanian specificity. Based on empirical analyses, it can be figured out that in last few years the occupational structure and the average incomes increased faster in Romania than in neighboring new EU member countries. In the same time, the inequalities in the monthly incomes between the employees form the different economic sectors had increased in the last years of the transition period from Romania. The empirical sources of the paper came for the official statistics produced by National Institute of Statistics from Romania, the CANSTAT Statistical Bulletin 2000-2003 series, regional or national surveys about the living standards.

Sharecropping Regimes and Exchange Forms. An Analysis of the Agricultural Farm Management
Cerasela Voiculescu
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The study addresses the ways in which the agricultural farms face the challenges posed by the postsocialist economy? Without neglecting the importance of the state policies, I will primarily focus on local and regional structures. In the paper I analyse various social relations, forms of economic exchange and levels of trust involved in agricultural farm management. The empirical data on agricultural farms were collected from three villages of Bărăgan region. Two relations are considered: the relation between farms and peasants/local community and that of farms with other economic actors involved in the production and distribution of agricultural products.

Migrația și satul
Migration and the Village
Ioana Petre
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): In the present study we have tried an detailed analyse of the evolution of internal and temporary outmigration, during the last four decades. It was found at least six different migration stages. The second part of article focalise on participation of rural population in process of migration, between 1968-2004, more precisely on main characteristics of postdecember evolution of internal and external migration implying rural area. We mean by that, primary, the spectaculare growing of urban-rural migration, special by retromigration [the coming back in the countryside of those who had gone away two or three decades ago] and a significant growing of outmigration on economic purpose. Both types of migration are consequences of quasi general crises the Romanian communities are confronted with. The impact of this phenomenon on the potential of development of the villages ist different: a) retromigration, by negative selection that it implies, contributes to the degradation of the human rural capital; b) the temporary outmigration on economic purpose leads to an individual and family prosperity, but not to social prosperity, for now anyway. We think that, by a different approach of the money comig into the country, brought by external migrants. These money could be use also in order to contribute to the economical devellopment of the villages, primary by the implementation of some working units as a result of the cooperation between migratory people and the local or/and national authorities.
