Dinamica valorilor sociale
The Dynamics of Social Values
Petru Iluț
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The article focuses on the tension between individual and social values, and especially between their local and universal condition. The author shares R. Boudon's idea of axiological ireversibility and add a personal one, that of axiological negentropy. In this perspective it discussed some problems concerning the trends of postmaterialist values, including the Romanian situation.

Surse ale suportului politic pentru democrație în țările postcomuniste
Sources of Political Support for Democracy in Post-Communist Countries
Ioan Mărginean, Iuliana Precupețu, Marius Precupețu
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The paper deals with how phenomena with relevance at macro level have turned at the individual level into attitudes and beliefs having influence on political support. We consider that comparison with the model of western countries as well as the discrediting of old regimes are external sources of political support. If the two sources mentioned (comparison with western model and discrediting of the communist regime) were considered by and large as initial boosters of political support, in time, they might lose their significance in the process of democratic consolidation. The question is how much importance do they still bear for political support. Is there any other similar phenomenon currently developing that can contribute in the same manner to the legitimacy of the new democracies? We try to find research evidence that an important source of political support can be identified at the macro level, which is the integration process of the former communist countries in the EU. We maintain that this approach can bring more insight into the process of political support and complete the picture created by the explanations based on the hypothesis like socialization and life situation.

Evoluții politice și geostrategice în regiunea Mării Negre înainte și după căderea comunismului. Elemente pentru o sociologie a relațiilor internaționale
Political and Geostrategical Evolutions in the Black Sea Region before and after the Fall of Communism. Elements for a Sociology of International Relations
Mihai Milca
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The end of the Cold War also brought the end of the bipolar geopolitical system. The regional level of analysis regained its pre-Cold War importance. The text investigates the context in which the Black Sea region received a new strategic shape and, simultaneously, a new geopolitical importance. The instruments used by this analysis are especially those of the sociology of international relations. A special accent regards Romania's position in the Black Sea security complex.

Vecinătățile de locuire urbană
Neighborhoods in Urban Housing
Dana Cornelia Nițulescu
Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): This work concerns a certain type of city community life in its urban neighborhood form. The study is a descriptive theoretical view upon the important properties of this social entity. The following issues were considered: the concept definition and the way it was used in the social abstracts, the normative aspect in the urban community, neighborhood characteristics, types, functions and the perception of this type of community expressed in the form of a neighborhood map. Due to the complex character of this subject, the concept of urban neighborhood was integrated in an explanatory schema with two dimensions: the neighborhood as a dwelling unit, as a physical environment on the one hand and the neighborhood as a social relationship, the individual dealing with place and people on the other hand. The study is a request for the monographic researches of urban neighborhoods from the point of view of relationships between people and their physical environment and also of the sociability networks which appear in such communities.
