The social dimension of the work of A. D. Xenopol

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The author discusses the work of the sociologist and historian A.D. Xenopol, from a socio-historical perspective. The article underlines the major social significance of his activity, on three dimensions: the rural issue, the unsolved problems of the peasant population throughout centuries, and the solutions which have been suggested for their amelioration.
