Immigration of Romanians in the Madrid community: an odyssey of lights and shadows

Abstract: The international migrations represent a challenge for the European countries for being one of the factors that they contribute to the development of the economic and social well-being of the countries of reception, to become rejuvenated of your population and to the transformation of your societies. The immigration, besides, raises to these democratic societies another important challenge, of having systems of integration that guarantee the respect of the rights of the persons who receive. From middle of the eighties, Spain passed in a relatively unexpected way, of being a country of emigration to having a positive balance in the migratory flow (Izquierdo, 1996). Opposite to this immigrants’ avalanche that they try to bring over on the verge of Spain, the Spanish State organized by means of projects and programs destined to face to this process increasingly intensively. In the last years, the studies and the investigations have been intensified destined to the migratory flows proceeding from Romania, country that in the last two years increased in a considerable way his number of immigrants. This article proposes to present and to characterize aspects related to the Rumanians’ immigration in the Community of Madrid. From a qualitative and quantitative survey that we carried out in 2005, with the motive of the accomplishment of the project of Research ‘Immigration, formation and employment in the Community of Madrid’, we will present very brief the features social and demographics more typical of the above mentioned community, the labour aspects, emphasizing in the disruptions between the formation in the native land and the employment in the Community of Madrid, and the integration of the same one in the society of Madrid of reception.

Riscurile politicilor de dezvoltare bazate pe formarea capitalului social
Risks of development policies based on social capital formation

Abstract: The paper considers the existing balance between the bonding and the bridging social capital in Romania, focusing on the risks which might occur for the community development projects. Firstly, a brief review of the literature discuss the bonding/ bridging distinction, its liquidity, the positive and the negative consequences of the existing social capital stocks for the community development. Second, the paper sketched that Romania has low levels of bridging social capital, but the distribution within the society is similar to one from different other European countries. Considering the higher levels of bonding relations and trust, the main section of the paper builds around the possible challenges for the community development projects which consider the use of social capital. Increasing existing inequalities, strengthening too much the bonding social capital, ‘mimed’ and ‘hierarchical associationism’, blocking the values. change, ignoring specific forms of social capital, biased evaluation procedure are among the potential perverse effects analyzed in the paper.

The Union of Imprisoned Writers. Muted freedom

Abstract: During the first decades after the soviet occupation in 1944, the Romanian writers were yield to certain diverse and severe pressures. Some of their books were prohibited, some had no right to publish, and some were arrested and condemned to many years of detention. Petre Pandrea, himself a political inmate during these times completed a list of all inmate writers. The article completes the list and analyses the socio-political context of the era by describing the groups of writers that got to express themselves during the time.

Abstract: Using the theoretical references of Goffman’s theory of the total institutions, this article deals with the fundamental contradiction issue with two types of rationality which settles the lives of individuals in different ways, according to their life abridged of freedom status. This contradiction underlain in respect with the produced effects over life abridged of freedom people marks the condemned people’s line from the moment of their entrance in the penitentiary until the freedom time of their release outside the prison walls conditioning the prison punishment social effects and justification.

Favorable social contexts for child abuse. V.V.Stanciu and the Code for the prevention of criminality

Abstract: The article presents the up-to-date problem of child maltreatment and insists upon the idea that, most frequently, we return to justice to solve the cases of abuse and not to the specialists in human problems - psychologists, sociologists, social workers, psychiatrists. The paper analyses the characteristics of the abusing parents and those of the abused children. Also, it describes the main types of paedophiles and their modus operandi. It is reopening to debate a proposal from 60s of the Romanian criminologist V.V. Stanciu regarding the necessity of a crime prevention code. Some of his ideas are very fruitful for the todays searching of the prevention measures of the degradation of the social contexts that generate violence and moral decadence. The study was carried out within the National Plan of Research, Development and Innovation PNII, the "Ideas" Program, the project named: "Domestic abuse on children and their social protection. Multidisciplinary victimization study".
