Sociologie şi mediu înconjurător. Perspective integrative
Sociology and environment. Integrative perspectives
Laura Nistor*
*Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca
Abstract: This paper aims to present some perspectives concerning the integration of the environment into the study objects of sociology. First and foremost, the statute and evolution of the field of environmental sociology are outlined. This field of knowledge has appeared during the 70s in the USA, later in Western Europe, and till now is weakly represented in Romania; however some processes and phenomena which are situated at the edge of the social and the environmental (e.g. climate change, sustainable development) would call for such integrative perspectives. The article brings a number of arguments concerning the pluri-, inter- and transdisciplinary patterns of socio-environmental approaches, respectively insists on the need to create more inclusive disciplinary frameworks, both concerning the social and the environmental sciences.

Modificări în profilul geografic al Bucureştiului determinate de migraţia populaţiei
Migratory flows in Bucharest. Specificity during the transition period
Nicoleta Tufan*
*University of Bucharest
Abstract: The present study takes its argument from a growing tendency of today’s world. Bucharest is undoubtedly the country’s most important city economically, politically, socially and as far as administration is concerned; the city is also the main attraction pole of the population and a ‘furnisher’ of population for other parts of the country or abroad. As a complex process, population migration has many consequences in the sphere of economical, social, political life etc. However, one must not ignore or diminish the changes brought about in the geographical profile of the region. Ranging from the aspect to the features of the city, population mobility determines positive and negative changes in terms of environment quality and its function. It is certain is that the process also generates problems of geographical nature whose solutions or control are issues of projects which are bound to be put into practice.
Keywords: population, migration, Bucharest.

Inserţia socioprofesională: analiza tranziţiei către viaţa activă şi la viaţa adultă în contextul Uniunii Europene
Socio-professional insertion: the analysis of transition towards active life and adult life in the context of the European Union
Rafael Martinez Martin, Paula Monica Dănălache
Abstract: In the present article we analyze one of the most important processes of a young person’s life, more exactly the transit to the active life and to adult life, in the European context. The transit from the educational period to the labor market has suffered important changes beginning with the 80s that had a great impact on the development of the vital fazes of the individuals. The delay of the family emancipation, of the marriage and of the creation of a family is the result of the new labor market model, which is too precarious and in many occasions, has been defined as flexible. The young people from the 60s and the 70s succeeded to insert themselves in the labor market rapidly and, having stable jobs, the young people from nowadays have to overcome a long transitional period during which their lives have a lot of different professional trajectories evolving into a more complex and uncertain process.

Politici culturale şi afirmarea identităţii. Luxemburg şi Marea Regiune - Sibiu. Capitale Culturale Europene în 2007
Cultural policies and identity affirmation. Luxemburg and the Great Region - Sibiu. European Cultural Capitals in 2007
Florica Vasiliu, Dragoş Dragoman
Abstract: Sibiu and Luxembourg shared in 2007 the European Capital of Culture title. Although the cities had clear, distinct and peculiar programmes, one might easily map a common feature, namely the emphasis on identity. By using the 2007 title, Luxembourg tried symbolically to assess its privileged cultural connections with its former provinces, which are now parts of neighboring France, Belgium and Germany. Yet the partnership between Luxembourg and Sibiu is merely founded on the same symbolic ground, namely the common origin of the two cities that finally rejoin, following centuries of distinctive historical paths. In this vein of identity promotion, Sibiu largely emphasized its multiculturalism as a landmark for Europeanization in the very year of Romania’s European full membership. The cooperation between different ethnic and religious cultures in the city in 2007, with consistent cultural contacts with citizens from other countries, seem to had influenced local identity and helped open the local community even wider. At the same time, basic identity layers tell another story, namely the requirements for the Romanian citizenship, which unravel an ongoing contradiction between Europeanization and Romanian national identity.
