Assessing the application of signaletics in Romania. Context and implications

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): This study presents an analysis regarding the implementation of the system of warning signals attached to the TV programs (signalectique) by the major Romanian TV channels and an assessment of the compliance with this system of the Romanian children and teenagers (7-10, 11-14, 15-18 years old), taking into account the results of a national survey based on questionnaire. If the compliance with the signalization and classification system of TV programs is, in principle, assimilated by the major televisions from Romania, in the context of a poor parental control, of a progressive personalization of TV viewing and of a profound absence of involvement of the educational institutions (school, high school) in the minors TV consume, the degree of non-compliance with the signalization system among the minors is alarming high. There are a lot of children and teenagers which simply ignore the signalectique and watch not recommended/forbidden TV programs (most of the teenagers (15-18 years old) and a consistent part of the children under 14).

Violence in cartoons: between reality and perception

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): The current study presents the violence on Romanian television, with a double approach: 1. the violence content of the cartoons broadcasted by two international TV stations dedicated to the children that are on the cable in Romania too Cartoon Network and JETIX and 2. the perspective opened by the text-reader model in reception theories. Thus, the second point of interest is finding out how Romanian youngsters nowadays do perceive the cartoonsviolent content, and also finding out which might be, in their view, the consequences of this viewing. Within the perspective of these two focuses and research directions, we will analyze, on one hand, the actual violence in cartoons and, on the other hand, how children/teens perceive those specific acts of violence broadcasted so that, in the end, to get to see whether its a matter of two faces of the same reality or two different realities altogether, the violence and the perception of it.

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): Among the mass-media means, the most impact has Television. As informational system and technical mean, Television is a invention of the human mind, which is not negative but the way to use transformed it in a certain source manipulative. There are more and more victims, especially among children, of the TV programmes which promote, in spite of the reglementations or monitoring maked by the National Audio-Video Council, the aggressiveness and violence, under all the forms.

The mass-medias place, and particulary the TVs place in informal education of the children it is more and more important in the modern world and the reality, especially of the young generation beeing... In contrast with SUA where the childrens TV consumtion is conected reverce proportional to parents social status, lever of education and family income, the studies made in Romania show that the TV over consumption is... and can not be corelate with non of the idex enumerate.

Education - a middle-class generator

Abstract (Rezumat în limba engleză): One of the most important criteria that people but also the specialist identify relating to the middle class is the level of the education. Each level of education from educational hierarchy is based on a social position in social hierarchy. As a rule, the secondary and the high levels of education are related to middle and high classes from the social hierarchy. In this article, we propose an analysis of the realtionship between the education and the middle class in Romania. The dates that the analysis is based on are taken from Statistic Year Anually Population and Dwelling Consus from 1992 and 2002 and from studies and researches on educational condition in Romania before and after 1989 on autoidentification of class. The results of our analysis pointed out the fact the middle class in Romania is dominating one from cultural and educational point of view. The economic capital is hardly represented in our middle class. From the cultural-educational capital point of view, the middle class in Romania is likewise middle classes in occidental sociaties. The existence and trends related on the inequalities of the society in education are still factors that bodly affecte the middle class; long-term the inequality of chances related to the access to education emerge to important restriction of the borders and the content of middle class.
