Abstract: This article presents the specificity of Sociology in high school and college. As a social science, Sociology tries to teach science, highlighting its scientific character, but also teaches content and methodology, offering to pupils and students accustomed with common sense, a policy- and ideology-based perspective over reality, through the mass-media. For the sociology teacher, anchored in the reality of social life, his mission is to find both the methods, techniques and didactical projecting procedures, teaching procedures, and evaluating the abilities gained for better understanding and interpreting of the social life and reducing the dissonance between what it is and what it should be.

Abstract: The state of social, economical, political and cultural life in post-1989 Romania has become a challenge and a confrontation from all these points of view. There is intense reference to population migration tendencies in the mass media as well as in the literature, whether it is about the people who choose to work abroad or about the people who migrate within the country. Considering these aspects, my hypothesis lies in the questioning of the evolution of migration after 1990 up to the present, as well as its contribution to the evolution and manifestation of certain demographical processes related to the physical space of the capital city which, because of its geographical, economical, political and cultural position is a pole of attraction for the population -for the rural as well as the urban population, and lastly, the "furnisher" function of the capital. Considering this state of affairs, alongside the analysis of annual migration evolution, of the age and sex group structure of migrants, of the fluxes and directions of movement of migrants, I have sought to answer to what extent migratory movement (in comparison with its natural counterpart) is "responsible" for the demographical reduction of Bucharest, this being a tendency of the past few years.

Keywords: population, migration, Bucharest.

Abstract: This article is based on an ethnographic study of a Transylvanian village inhabited by Hungarians and Roma. I analyse the processes of ritual revitalisation which is characteristic of the postsocialist period. My main argument is that religion and ritual provide important resources for individuals and communities seeking to assert themselves publicly in postsocialist Romania. The need for public affirmation among minorities is acute, and the forms of ritual they adopt differs: some groups are more receptive to the revival of communal rituals and 'traditions', while for others, revitalisation is focused on the individual. The two denominations considered in this study are Calvinism and Pentecostalism. Calvinism relies on the affirmation of cultural values to mobilise the faithful while Pentecostalism advocates a new form of moral personhood which is particularly attractive to a segment of the local Roma.

Keywords: rural Transylvania, minorities, postsocialist public sphere, ritual revitalisation, conversion, Pentecostalism.

Abstract: After nineteen years of postcommunism, Romania experiences a lot of changes in the social structure. The way from a social structure, which characterized the communist society, to a different kind of social structure which characterized a democratic society, is not finished yet. A slight stratification resulting from the establishment of a middle class and the emergence of some new categories such as entrepreneurs, was visible in Romania after the year 2000. After this year, the level of poverty, as well as the level of unemployement began to decrease. This kind of optimism may desapeare in the context of the new financial and economic crisis. This crisis may increase the level of poverty again, and also the level of social homogenisation. Making a theoretical study as well as an empirical one, we analised some statistical data to identify the level of some socio-economic indicators, which help us to understand the process of social stratification in Romania.

Keywords: social polarization, social stratification, social structure, social change.
