Abstract: This article introduced the reader to the demanding aspects of “emotional” jobs, that is, jobs that are designed to regulate emotional display, the demands associated with emotional regulation itself, and behavioral responses to emotional regulation. If these emotional demands are different to the emotions the employee actually feels, then the employee will incur emotional dissonance or psychological discomfort. As a result, the employee will be internally motivated to try to reduce the discrepancy through pretending that he or she is experiencing the emotions or through regulating his or her own emotion so that they are consistent with that demanded. This motivated behavior is labeled emotional labor. In this study, I also sought to illustrate the significance of organizational culture to emotions in the workplace and its pivotal role in determining the healthiness of the organizations for its members. Through discussion of organizational culture as a form of social control operating at the emotional level, I identified the features and processes that define a positive, healthy organizational culture.

Abstract: Within the framework of the Sustainable Livelihood Approach the author investigates in a case-study (based on an analysis of the macrostructural changes in Romania) how settlements bordering the Piatra Craiului Mountains in Romania are structured. In the villages of the area, the situation is quite diverse: while some villages have a booming rural tourism, others have high unemployment problems because of a restructuring of industries. In remote mountain-villages traditional lifestyles along with natural-resource-based livelihoods can be found. With this the author demonstrates that the Sustainable Livelihood Approach is adequate and fruitful when analyzing individual household structures not only in developing countries but also in a European context.

Abstract: The rural world was many times considered the holder of traditions coming from the old generations, the symbol of enrooting due to its reduced mobility compared to the urban world. Before the Romanian Revolution of December 1989, the rural way of life implied a model of daily existence in which the distribution of roles within the community was closely tied to the values shared by the entire community, in a broad meaning, or by the domestic group, in a narrow meaning. Although generally considered traditional, the rural world cannot escape evolution. Therefore, if we consider the dynamics of the social relations which spur new types of sociability or, on the contrary, new cleavages due to social mobility, with changes in statuses and roles, or due to geographical mobility, we can say that, on the contrary, the face of the rural world is changing. Today, the modern rural society seems divided, on the one hand due to the representations of its members, more nuanced with every day, on the other hand due to a „multitude of ways of life” (Beck, 1998) which do not resemble those considered traditional. The diversity of the ways of life in the rural Maramureş comes mainly from the migration of the villagers to the cities or even to other countries and, more recently, after 1994, from the expansion of rural tourism and the openness it implies. Under these circumstances, taking into account the implications of tourist practices, we wonder whether the modernity submits the relationship between rural actors to a reflexivity exercise. To test this argument, we want to know whether the rural world is able to align itself to modernity by assuming the power of individual action, by a rationalization of the actions of the rural actors, called here, in the context of tourist practices, the .new. peasants. . Tourist practices in the rural areas represent a modern social phenomenon that emerged following decision of both the state and the private individuals to participate to it. Knowing the way the tourism is implemented in the rural areas, our main question is to what extent such practices change the relationship between people compared to the old traditional way of living together.

Abstract: The present study offers a rather new approaching perspective for the social sciences in our country – the perspective of territorial intelligence. After a preview of the definitions of this concept, we present the main associated principles, as well as the specific methodological approaches. The restoring of the results of the sociological inquiry is considered to be a nucleus of the methodological approaches reunited by Professor J.J. Girardot under the tiles Catalyse. The technique of restoring is also the basis for the exploratory investigations whose results are presented in this study. Through the sociological inquiry, we tried to identify the inhabitants’ representations in the micro-region Albac-Scărişoara-Horea (Alba country) of the main local and family problems as well as the development opportunities in the micro-region. A part of the results of the sociological inquiry have been restored to the participants to the inquiry through the interview guide, at the same time analyzing the results and stimulating the local territorial intelligence at the level of inhabitants and local authorities as well.
